We’re just about to start the next phase of the #skateboardproject14. As you may already know we have skateboard themed chairs…but what are chairs without a table? What you see pictured here is a 10 foot piece of TEAK. It is only 1 foot wide and 1 inch thick, but that alone cost $265. The company I purchased it from cut me a deal compared to the other store ($100 difference!) This will be 1 OF 4 DIFFERENT types of wood for our table! This is reason #357 to use a #festool. We didn’t even have to unclamp the chair to reach 4 hidden screws, therefore we know it’ll still be square. #skateboardproject14 #festoolwin #carpentry #chair #carpenter #customchair #skateboarding #skateboard

Here’s a second shot of the chair leg I just posted. The entire chair shows these layers to mimic the way a skateboard is made with layers of wood. We even used a router to round the edges (like a skateboard) and show more of the layers. #skateboardproject14 #skateboarding #carpentry #carpenter #router #skateboardchair #customchair #custom

This is our chair design for the #skateboardproject14 created by @atvjunky … Not only does the design look nice, but by cutting out that much “meat” we actually make each chair 8 LBS lighter! Here’s the custom ladder we made for those large stairway cabinets in our #skateboardproject14 house. It’s a combination of #walnut and #maple as you can tell by the contrast in color. Notice the walnut plugs in the upper left picture… What purpose do they serve? Covering up screw holes of course 😉 I think the customer will be happy with the results! #ladder #custom #customladder #carpentry #carpenter

This is the start of our chairs for the #skateboardproject14 home we’re working in. @atvjunky was nice enough to bring his old skateboards to use for ideas. It’s a great feeling to be able to brainstorm and really get creative. After talking for awhile we have come up with a few different ideas… I think the customer is going to freak out when he sees these chairs! Almost done. Tomorrow we are going to make shelf covers for the corners , do some sending and break this thing down so the customer can take it outside and cover it with a concrete blanket….yes 😉 it will have real concrete as a seat cover which will later be finished and covered in epoxy. This is a quick look at the cabinet I installed above the stairway at our #skateboardproject14 house. It may not look big, but from top to bottom it’s 63 inches! It also comes with a custom ladder to reach the shelves inside. I believe we successfully converted unused space into usable space 🙂 More to come soon! #carpentry #carpenter #cabinet #useablespace #practical
