So here it is, the start of our #skateboardproject We worked on a template for our supports. There will be EIGHT supports (each will be 2 1/4 inches thick) Why so thick? The customer is going to place a “concrete blanket” on top of this to go a long with the skateboard/skate park theme of this room. So not only will this bench seat guests, but it will help imitate a halfpipe along the border of his room! This was my tribulation, I mean fun job today:-) Customer wanted the shelves above the stairs taken out and a cabinet installed and trimmed out, easy enough or so I thought. I build the cabinet only 1/2 inch smaller then the opening ( my mistake) making it almost impossible to hang in the opening, plus at 5′ tall ,2′ deep , 35″ wide and all 3/4 ply I quickly realized that I’m too old for this adventure ,no wait, i mean I just miss my helper @atvjunky:-) I’m glad its done, except for two doors and a custom ladder that I still have to make. #carpentry #customanything #trimcarpenter #trimcarpentry #woodworking #woodwork #festool

Here’s a video of one of the #mullions being run through the #planer … The piece is being tilted by the #jig I made so it can create the desired angle (See my last picture). I had to run through each mullion at the same height so that they were identical. To get the correct angle I lowered the planer almost 1/16th of an inch each pass through. I completed approximately 7 passes! I wanted to post this video just incase anyone was curious as to how a featherboard worked on a table saw 😉 We made that same cut somewhere in the ballpark of 170 times on pieces of various lengths! This is a quick shot showing some of the cleaning process that goes into cleaning up wood flooring. Dirt and dust has crusted (pictured on the LEFT side) on the tongue of the flooring, but it’s nothing a wire brush cant fix! Today we’re having fun with some old wood flooring.
