Here’s a small sneak peek at the table for our #skateboardproject14 home. How do you like the order of the colors??? We would appreciate some input! 🙂 (Don’t mind the rough marks, those will be gone) Also, mahogany strips will be going between each piece of wood. We’re just about to start the next phase of the #skateboardproject14. As you may already know we have skateboard themed chairs…but what are chairs without a table? What you see pictured here is a 10 foot piece of TEAK. It is only 1 foot wide and 1 inch thick, but that alone cost $265. The company I purchased it from cut me a deal compared to the other store ($100 difference!) This will be 1 OF 4 DIFFERENT types of wood for our table! Here’s a second shot of the chair leg I just posted. The entire chair shows these layers to mimic the way a skateboard is made with layers of wood. We even used a router to round the edges (like a skateboard) and show more of the layers. #skateboardproject14 #skateboarding #carpentry #carpenter #router #skateboardchair #customchair #custom

Here’s the custom ladder we made for those large stairway cabinets in our #skateboardproject14 house. It’s a combination of #walnut and #maple as you can tell by the contrast in color. Notice the walnut plugs in the upper left picture… What purpose do they serve? Covering up screw holes of course 😉 I think the customer will be happy with the results! #ladder #custom #customladder #carpentry #carpenter

This is the start of our chairs for the #skateboardproject14 home we’re working in. @atvjunky was nice enough to bring his old skateboards to use for ideas. It’s a great feeling to be able to brainstorm and really get creative. After talking for awhile we have come up with a few different ideas… I think the customer is going to freak out when he sees these chairs! Here’s a video of one of the #mullions being run through the #planer … The piece is being tilted by the #jig I made so it can create the desired angle (See my last picture). I had to run through each mullion at the same height so that they were identical. To get the correct angle I lowered the planer almost 1/16th of an inch each pass through. I completed approximately 7 passes!
