More work on the stairs today. You may be wondering what I’m doing in the picture on the left. It looks like I dropped something and am reaching for it (I lost many shims that I won’t get back) but I’m actually attaching risers to treads on the backside with Kreg jigs so that no nails or screws will be visible. #carpentry #carpenter #woodworking #stairs #carpenterproblems #oldhouseremodel #remodel #trimcarpenter #customdesign #custom #project #customproject

Here’s a video of one of the #mullions being run through the #planer … The piece is being tilted by the #jig I made so it can create the desired angle (See my last picture). I had to run through each mullion at the same height so that they were identical. To get the correct angle I lowered the planer almost 1/16th of an inch each pass through. I completed approximately 7 passes! This is part of a project we’re working on. I had to remake 8 mullions for the old windows that got all new casing. We had to choose: run mullions though table saw and do lots of sanding or build a jig for the planer and run stock though, we chose the fun way:-) #remodelproject #remodel #trimcarpentry #oldhouseremodel #finewoodworking #festool #funonthejob #doitrightthefirsttime

Here’s the section of #woodflooring we put down today… Like most old things, this flooring was stubborn! Some of this flooring is as old as the house (Built in 1915) so it has been sanded, stained, and painted multiple times. Thankfully we were able to work with it (hammers, chisels, wedges, elbow grease) and made the customer happy 🙂 #customcarpentry #floor #flooring #carpenter #customcarpentry #remodelproject #recycle #oldhouseremodel

This is a quick shot showing some of the cleaning process that goes into cleaning up wood flooring. Dirt and dust has crusted (pictured on the LEFT side) on the tongue of the flooring, but it’s nothing a wire brush cant fix! Today we’re having fun with some old wood flooring.
